Project Dumbo is a course at Elmira College that offers students a once in a lifetime experience based in NYC. The course is essentially based on two concerns: (A) looking at art and (B) meeting artists and art professionals in related fields and disciplines in order to gain insight into career paths and opportunities. The course focuses on studio practice and career development for art majors/minors enrolled at Elmira College. How does it work: 6-8 students are selected to live and work together in a culturally diversified and fashionable relatively high end neighborhood of Brooklyn known as DUMBO (aka: Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass).

The course objective is to enable students to partake in an all-encompassing intense learning experience equipping them with the critical and necessary skills in preparation for a career in a wide range of arts related fields. The experience as a whole encourages students to foster a deeper commitment towards their passion and enable them to continue their maturation towards becoming creative and critical thinkers, and upstanding, responsible and considerate citizens.
